Youtube blocked... again

youtubeblock.jpg Ugh. Most of you have already noticed by now, but Youtube's been Great Firewall-ed for the second time this month. Unlike the weird half-assed blocking in early March though, it looks like this time the video site is down. completely. everywhere.

Why? It seems like nobody knows right now. We can't think of any particularly pressing anniversaries - the type of thing that has warranted a Youtube block in the past. Our best guess is that this might have something to do with the recent unrest in Tibet? It's not too out there to think that someone might have loaded a couple Chinese censor angering vids of the allegedly hundreds-strong protest.

Another theory: A commenter on Danwei noted that the block came soon after the U.S. Navy posted vids of their strange confrontation with Chinese sailors in the South China seas. We guess that could be em-bare-assing enough to get the site shut off too.

On another note, did you know Youtube has been reported as inaccessible from China 218 times? Fun fact from Herdict.

I used a proxy to access Youtube and download the 8 files. It's just some Chinese trawlers coming too close to the large US survey boat. There's no mooning or any audible exchanges between the crews. Zzzzz.

I think it is this incident that's causing a problem though.

Videos like this are also blocked for me:

That's the same title as the video(s) on Youtube.

damn I'm so sick of this paranoid police state of tiny-dicked insecure male commie mommy's boys!

what an utterly USELESS and poor-excuse of a "culture"! Please Chinese Mommies and Aunties.... please... add 3 more layers of clothing to those baby boys and keep licking their asses clean till the are 23 years old!

It's because of this video of police fatally beating a Tibetan protester http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090324/ap_on_re_as/as_china_tibet

When asked, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters: "Many people have a false impression that the Chinese government fears the Internet. In fact it is just the opposite."
haha oh yea, it's the internet that fears china's government...

There's nothing wrong with the internet, it's a problem with Youtube. Duh.

Has the Opposite End of China been pulled????????
