Ms. Chow, Your article gave me a chuckle. Frankly, I think China has done well to "draft" such a talent as the RZA. The African-American delegate really messed up with the Woods pick... In all seriousness, the fact that China wants to adopt a black dude may ultimately be a good thing. We expats (or formerly so in my case) know very well the, shall we say, racial and ethic "consistency" of the Chinese mindset. An honored figure like Tiger Woods, just by his very presence on a bright green golf course, is bound to to create internal tensions withe the next generation of Chinese cosmopolitans. Success is no longer viewed as a white monopoly. The ascendancy of minorities in sports, politics, etc., only bolsters America's image abroad, and I believe it captures the imagination of those in other countries who want to revel in the bounty of the world's vast diversity. Of course, this is a very, very, very optimistic perspective, which is why we crackers really need to have a backup plan. I suggest we strengthen out numbers by poaching Yao Ming as soon as possible. Or maybe that dude from Baidu...

well if i recall correctly, the Thai's also claimed himm as one of their own. wil have to go find a link somewhere, but it is not a Chinese thing so much as maybe an asian thing.

oh, and I just read the rest of your article, which clarifies the fact that Tiger got another 1/8 from Daddy, so I guess you're right here, but it sure was fun being so patronising for a minute there. They didn't teach reading comprehension in astronaut school, so let's just forget about this little tiff.

Elaine, when I went to astronaut school, we learned this advanced math called "division and multiplication." And according to this advanced "space math," if you will, if Tiger's mother is 1/4 Chinese, that would make Tiger 1/8 Chinese.
