Bet you never thought this would be a victim of the recession: foreign men with yellow fever. According to a Shanghai Daily article, they've been losing their attraction as potential husbands for unmarried Chinese women since the financial crisis began.
A survey, carried out by a matchmaking website called Hongniang, used the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September 2008 as a starting point and found that happiness scores for almost all women dropped from around an average of 72 to an average of 54.
The website didn't give any indication to how the scores were calculated (though, if the women were Shanghainese, we have some not so nice guesses).
Also according to the survey, as the economic bad times have dragged on, the number of Chinese women willing to marry a foreign man dropped sharply from 42.5% to 16.8%. Hongniang attributed this to the assumption that foreigners don't really save, while Chinese men do.
Sounds completely silly overall, but we bet the fenqing will be on this like flies on rice! It's probably the best (not really substantiated) news they've heard all year.

Electrolist: Underground/overground clash again

Me love you long time NOT at after all!
I doubt local shit youth will fare any better, its their lack of manners, fitness, style and hygiene that also drove local girls to foreigners. I'll bet that part time prostitution is on the rise though.
