Earth Hour: Drink away the darkness!

earth-hour-china.jpg Sure, you could always just stay at home tonight, turn out your lights at exactly 8:30pm and then wait around an hour before you declare yourself a good environmental citizen and go back to your regular life - or you could recognize the whole movement for what it really is: a way to feel a part of something bigger than yourself with like-minded people... and an excuse to get drunk in the dark! So here's a couple places to chug a few in the name of Mother Gaia.

ACAA Presents Earth Hour
Why: Australians were the first to come up with Earth Hour, so it's fitting to spend time with a bunch of them during it! Plus, you'll get one of the best views of the lights going out from the top of the Le Meridien Hotel.
Where: Le Meridien Hotel's Bar 789, 789 Nanjing Dong Lu near Jiujiang Lu 南京东路789号64-66楼

Spanish Wines at Longitude/Latitude
Why: You get five glasses of regional Spanish wines from Rioja, Navarra and Extremadura, and a great amount of delicious canapés to snack on by candlelight for 120RMB.
Where: 1 Yue Yang Lu, near Dong Ping Lu 岳阳路 1号

Lights Out at Vue Bar
Why: There's going to be a signature “Earth cocktail” and looking at the Bund as one by one, the lights shut off, seems like it'd be kind of a thrill. At the Hyatt on the Bund.
Where: 199 Huangpu Lu near Wuchang Lu 黄浦路199号

Zapata's
Why: If you're an older, white male you'll probably be there anyway. From 8pm to 10pm they'll be serving all you can eat tacos and free-flow draught beer for 150RMB per person. Gnosh to the environment!
Where: 5 Hengshan Lu near Dongping Lu, 衡山路5号

Battles!
Why: Rock shows can celebrate Earth hour too! From 8:30pm to 9:30pm, Mr. Particle - normally electroweird - will be playing an acoustic set to candlelight. When the lights go back on, you can dance the rest of the night away with AV Okubo, LAVA/OX/SEA and Battles. 120RMB Entry.
Where: Zhijiang Dream Factory, 68 Yuyao Lu 余姚路68号,同乐坊内

Even more reason, as if it were needed, to take part in Earth Hour tonight

Figures shit ball China would find another reason to excuse itself from another pro-environment event that actually includes participation and sacrifice on its behalf.
