Stamina Trousers: For those with the vigor of Chiang Kai-shek

We never realized Chiang Kai-shek was in the business of selling trousers, and we were equally surprised that they would be STAMINA trousers since, well, it's not like the guy had that much staying power. At least not in China. Hey-yo!

We assume then that this copy - this delightfully Hemmingway-esque verse - was written before 1949:

“Stubborn and tenacious as a bulldog, fearless and unafraid, doggedly patient, this son of a village merchant is  the strongest man China has produced for generations.  In 1928, he set out to unify China.  He was too successful.  Japan attacked.  Despite overwhelming odds, despite defeat after defeat, Chiang still fights on, confident in ultimate victory.  This great man, a Christian by conviction, is indeed a man of stamina, the heart and soul of the Chinese resistance.”*

A quick search for more information on Stamina Trousers revealed that they may have belonged to an Australian clothing line called "Stamina Clothes" and turned up this ad. Apparently they're also self-supporting, another thing we're not sure we'd attribute to Chiang.
