Waibaidu Bridge (外白渡桥) is now open, old people are psyched!

waibaidu_oldfolks.jpg According to Xinmin, the Waibaidu bridge opened up to the public earlier this morning. Though the official opening time was 8am, people weren't let on the bridge until an hour later due to the huge lines that formed.

The 102-year-old bridge, located on the northern end of the Bund, took a vacation last year to be restored somewhere in Pudong. In late February of this year, it's newly spiffied up parts were returned to their original location.

And now, like heroes and heroines of various old Shanghai movies, you too can take a stroll along the Waibaidu Bridge. Or - like the adorable old folks photographed by Xinmin - perhaps, a run.
