WTF, it's the World Travel Fair

wtf_bugs.jpg Normally we wouldn't look twice at tourism expos in Shanghai, but when this popped up in our Xinmin (新民日报) feed this morning, our first thoughts were “WTF are those creatures supposed to be” and then “OMG, I think I see the acronym 'WTF' is in the story!”

Turns out there's a World Travel Fair happening right now at the Shanghai New International Expo Center and the doors officially opened this morning. According to its website:

Since 2004, World Travel Fair (WTF) has been successfully held for 5 consecutive years. Co-organized by the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission (SMTAC) and VNU Exhibitions Asia, WTF in 2008 had exceeded 12,000m2 in exhibition area with 512 exhibitors from 62 different countries. After five years of continual development, WTF has not only grabbed worldwide attention but also received positive feedback from the tourist industry and the travel minded public.

Today, WTF has already established itself as “The Outbound Travel Industry's leading Sourcing Fair in China”. The trade-days have become a sourcing fair for the outbound travel agencies whereas the consumer-days have become a place for travel enthusiasts to get inspired, book trips or purchase tourist orientated products. As such, WTF has gradually grown to establish itself as the leading sourcing fair for the outbound travel market.

Still no clue what those creatures are supposed to be though.
