This is probably not the most obvious collaboration but Zapata’s is hosting – for one special night only – the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC), with all proceeds going towards Shanghai Roots and Shoots.
Billed as ‘The Great American Experience’, the DCC seem to be an institution, a hard out touring dance troupe, fan club, advice column, fitness regime, and swimsuit catalogue – all rolled into one.
We’re not entirely sure this is what Jane Goodall, founder of Roots and Shoots, would have imagined for her charity. Famous for her work with primates, Goodall set up Roots and Shoots in 1991, ‘to educate youth about environmental issues and humanitarian values with a special focus on group interaction’. Touring cheerleaders aren’t the first spokespeople that spring to mind for this well established foundation.
But spring they will. And who are we to knock back any opportunity to raise awareness for this deserving program? So for a dose of America’s self-proclaimed “Sweethearts” head to Zapata’s this Friday and donate your money to a well needed cause.
