Insane Nanjing bus driver drags motorcyclist to death in wild chase around city streets

nanjing_crazy_busdriver.jpg While bus drivers do tend to get a little crazy here in Shanghai, at least when they get into accidents, it's unintentional. The same can't be said for this driver in Nanjing, who enacted a real life GTA, driving his bus into a motorcyclist and dragging the body for a good five kilometers before he was finally stopped.

According to Nanjing's Modern Express (现代快报), at around 9pm last night, a taxi driver named Mr. Gu, who was following behind an empty Line 114 bus, heard a sudden giant “BAM!” sound. The bus's front right tire began shooting sparks, and Mr. Gu noticed a black object caught under the wheel. It was only after chasing down the bus and driving to its side that the taxi driver saw what was underneath - a man who had been riding a motorcycle.

Mr. Gu honked the horn to warn the wayward bus's driver, but didn't get a reaction. He sped up and gave chase as the bus swerved around, hitting another pedestrian, before going into a tunnel. While in the tunnel, the bus driver finally noticed Mr. Gu's car and began trying to force him off the road.

Out of the tunnel, the bus sped through a red light. Not knowing what to do, Mr. Gu chased him through the red light as well, and yelled for him to stop. Near the corner of the next road, a driver of a 2000 Santana saw the body under the car as well and also began to give chase. But even two cars, one flanking the left side and the other on the right, wasn't enough to stop the bus.

Up ahead, another taxi driver and an Audi A4 car were blocking the road. The bus driver drove right through them, slamming into both cars. The collision finally caused the bus driver to hit the brakes about 20 meters later. He rushed off the bus and into a nearby security office.

The bus driver was a 50-year-old man who went by the surname Wang. The Modern Express reporter managed to get a few words in with Wang before he was dragged off into police custody:

Reporter: What happened?

Wang: I am a murderer.

Reporter: What's your name?

Wang: I'm called Wang Jian Qiang. I live in Baixia district and am a part of Zhongbei Co.'s Waiping bus drivers... I've driven for 10 years already.

Reporter: Why would you want to murder?

Wang: I wanted to kill someone. I keep on getting bullied by the leader of our driving unit.

Reporter: Did you know the consequences?

Wang: No, I didn't... but I didn't want to live anymore.

Reporter: Were there customers on the car?

Wang: No, I stole the bus.

Reporter: Why would you do that?

Wang: The leader of our driving unit always bullies me. One time when a customer's head was accidentally caught in the door of the bus, [the leader] came to find me, file a complaint against me, blame me. It wasn't my fault!

Reporter: Were you unhappy because of the punishment?

Wang: The leader said that if it happened again, the punishment would be harsher.

The body of the motorcyclist, while recovered, was completely mutilated.
