Haibao Mexicano!

haibao-mexicano.jpg Whilst not everyone loves the regular toothpastey Haibao, it would take a cold, cold heart not to love him in his new outfit.

We don't know exactly where these are coming from (terencelau pointed us to James Fallows' blog in the Atlantic) but with a bit of luck there will be a whole series of international costumes for the Expo 2010 Mascot before too long.

Viva la World Expo!

UPDATE: It seems Haibao has been getting dressed for success since December 2007!
Here's the full wardrobe.

I can't wait to see the raunchy versions of Haibo start to crop up.

French (Tickler) Haibo

etc.

There's actually 4 Haibao hedges on Tianshan Lu near Suichen Lu. One of the Hedgebao's is dressed as a cowboy and another in some kind of skirt.

So China is now reinforcing the stereotype of sombrero wearing wabs? Just gotta add a gold tooth and a big moustache...
