PSA: Need Work? Come to the 2010 Expo!

expo.jpg The Shanghai 2010 Expo is looking for volunteers of all shapes, sizes, and nationalities, and if you're a soon-to-be college graduate, you're probably still looking for a job.

According to Xinhua, the Expo is looking for 170,000 volunteers to act as interpreters, information advisors, and aides for the physically handicapped. The recruiting process begins May 1, and from what Xinhua is reporting, the requirements to work at the Expo are pretty low.

Each volunteer must agree to work for at least 14 days during the Expo, which starts on May 1, 2010, and runs for 184 days. They should also obey the law and regulations of China, and be in good health.

Unfortunately the positions are unpaid, but volunteers get food, uniforms, and insurance, and they get to be in Shanghai instead of their parents' basements. The timing of this announcement is a stroke of genius by the Expo coordinators. With universities and colleges graduating their seniors in a matter of weeks, we're sure plenty of those Chinese speaking college grads will consider the Expo (maybe those high schoolers too).

In other Expo-related news, 1,000 SAIC Motors produced, electric cars will be used at the Expo as part of the "Green" initiative.

Foreigners can apply here. Applications will be accepted from May 1-December 31.
