Tourist discount bonanza hitting Pudong

jinmao_tower.jpg Finally a reason to go to Pudong! The Shanghai government is handing out discount coupons worth about a total of 900 million RMB in the Pudong New Area district in an attempt to boost tourism.

The coupons, which will be available starting tomorrow, offer discounts of from 20 to 40 percent off various goods, and cover 12 scenic spots, 29 hotels, 32 restaurants and nine travel agencies.

While most of the tickets are going to be sent to would-be tourists in Zhejiang and Jiangsu, there are ways to get them over here too - it shouldn't be too hard to convince them that you, as well, happen to be a tourist. Check out Shanghai's numerous tourist information and service centers.
