What if the U.S. broke up (much like the Soviet Union did in the early 1990s)? According to one Russian professor, it means that Governer Ahnold may need to learn Chinese.
Igor Panarin, a former KGB analyst and popular patron of Russian talk shows, has allegedly drawn up a map of what America will look like after its “moral and economic collapse.” According to Panarin, after a second American civil war and the collapse of the dollar - due to “mass immigration, economic decline and moral degradation” - the United States would break into half a dozen regional sub-entities that would then somehow be taken over by foreign powers.
* Alaska would revert to Russia, and Hawaii would become Chinese or Japanese. * The West Coast (the three Pacific states, joined with Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Arizona in a Californian Republic), would fall to China or at least be under Chinese influence. * A Texas Republic, which would also include New Mexico, Oklahoma and all the other traditionally southern states (except the Carolinas, the Virginias, Kentucky and Tennessee), would similarly be either directly or indirectly under the sway of Mexico. * The aforementioned southern exceptions would join the northeastern states in forming a bloc that might join the European Union. * The rest - all midwestern and western states - would be at Canada’s mercy.
Yes, it's completely a crack pot theory for any number of reasons (one off the top of our heads: Can you imagine Canadians actually wanting to deal with Detroit?), but it's also kind of fun to think of a West that's gone to China. We imagine that most parts of California would look... exactly the same.
And when will this breakup happen? In mid-2010! Hey, isn't that about the time of the Expo? We guess if America ceases to exist by that point, then it'd be harder for the Chinese people to have their feelings hurt by the absence of a U.S. pavilion. Silver linings!

Week Around the Ists

Hi Igor, If you're going to embark on such a pointless masturbatory exercise, at least do some homework. Just arbitrarily dividing the US into several pieces and giving them to the nearest places geographically is plain stupid. California would go to China with advice from the euros; NY, Israel; WV or some pocket would become Bubbastan or Freedomland or independent; Florida, Cuba; Texas independent; Washington perhaps Japan; and Canada would still be made fun of. Or you could make the case that China would take the whole thing. Or Mexico takes the whole bottom 2/3rds.
I'd also say Russia is closer to "moral and economic collapse."
El Jefe, nobody takes this guy seriously. Such predictions probably help him market his name among die-hard anti-Americans in Russia only. The whole idea is silly for so many reasons. Moreover, it is very old news. I read about it six months ago.
I particularly like how he groups areas together in his map that are culturally distant. Tennessee is grouped in the same republic as New York. Montana gets placed with Illinois. And Florida and Oklahoma end up together. Moreover, the new areas would be influenced by countries or regions that can barely keep themselves together. Um... yeah... that's practical!
Of course, asking him to note these things would be asking him to create a serious study (if that were possible).
Don't count your chickens before they hatch - in this case the eggs are all infertile. You want to be an American so badly you can't stand it so you are trying for the otherside for relief. There is none. America is AMERICA and it will still be at the second coming. The born and the legally immigrated will keep us strong.
I lived in your SU for two years and it was heartbreak everytime I turned around. It could be so great - the heart of the people is big and beautiful but people like you are keeping Russia mean and little. Come out of it.
It's funny as to how every prediction of America's fall includes our "moral decay". We're not the ones selling off daughters as cheap marriage material.
I don't think China would get such a big piece of the pie. I'd see Japan and SK putting quite a bit of effort to plant some flags as well, even a joint effort to stem China. But all 3 would only get northern California, Mexico would take everything from LA down.
Here's my layout:
Alaska goes to Russia.
China, Japan and Russia slug it out over Washington, Oregon and northern Cali. Russia and China have bigger land armies but Japan's navy and air force are light years ahead and fully operational.
SoCal, Arizona, Nevada and NM all go to Mexico.
Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and maybe Lousiana go independent, capital is in Texas. This part of the US is overflowing with guns. The SE US and up the coast to Boston probably go with the EU.
Nobody wants the wackos in Montana and Idaho.
From ND/SD to the Great Lakes and up to main become part of more right leaning Canada. The Quebecois are even more marginalized but now Canada controls half or more of the world's surface and sub surface fresh water as well as the massive Brakken reserves and the expanding Appalachian gas reserves.
No doubt, this has been Canada's strategy all along. Let's attack them preemptively and take... well... the whole country.
A Russian Professor's Prediction of How the U.S. Will Split
And back to the professor, "if wishes were horses beggars would ride".
another dilusional Rushkie has succumed to the light of day....LOL
misery loves "Cadres unt der Kamrades"
meanwhile the "good ole USA keeps on ticking along," oblivious to the melodramatic emotive behavior of Rushkies unt der ChinesenCadrekophts.
Also, on a "productive day" what do Chinese and Russian intelligence officials actually talk about?
Please note Cheyrnobyl stil glows in the dark with 4 eyed 8 toed frog-like swamp people, and the few Chinese who can actually "drive" a car, are color blind due to long-term DDT ingestion (among the many genetic mladies I see)as well the neuro-cognitive executive process involved in driving is at best a tremedous challenge to even the humblest of bicycling or scooter humping party people...to a larger degree the lack of compliance is simply one of many social deviations from logi taking place within the duplicitous behemoth leading the masses to their next civil war and thusly the maloderous equivocation which will no doubt ensue given the known behavior of the Chinese in terms of even a minimal amount of personal will to accept responsibility for their acts within and without their defensive zones of safety
Time will tell....but to be sure it is on the side of the USA...China now dances to the beck and call of it's "best customer" while worrying about the pennys invested therein (who's LMAO now?) don't worry though, because it is all in a day's work for some of us....haha
Of course all of the panda lickers in the biz community are celebrating China's "repaired" economy while Andy Xie said otherwise two days ago in the SCMP.
