Green Scene: Drinking=Growing Trees

green-drinks-shanghai-social-environmental-networking-may-14-2009.jpg Want to feel better about drinking in Shanghai? Sure, you can keep on insisting that consuming red wine is healthy for you (the magazines say it, so it must be true!), but here's another reason...

Green Drinks has landed in our fair city. This informal group offers an opportunity for people to chat about environmental and social issues, sustainable development and CSR. Established in 1989 in London, there are over 450 Green Drink networks worldwide. Beijing and Hangzhou also have a listing on the official website.

Racks MDB (5/F, No.7, South Block, Xintiandi, near Madang Lu, 新天地南里广场7号5楼), home of the monthly event, also just started donating 15% of all orders to offset their carbon emissions in tree purchases. Who knew that drinking actually equals planting trees?

Green Drinks are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month with 2-for-1 drinks specials. This month features 5 minute speeches by the MD of Hermes Investment Group’s and Seal Carbon Ltd.

Check it out next week on May 14th from 6-8pm!
