Video: Up from the Underground

Did you miss the Up from the Underground screening? That's too bad! But no matter: Daedalum Films has put it online just for us.

Up from the Underground follows Shanghainese band Hard Queen as it prepares to release its debut EP, "Holiday." The film looks at the origins of this up-and-coming band, profiles its members, and examines the challenges of making it as an independent group in China.

The video is also available on Daedalum Films' website at

The website version is a much smaller Flash file, so should load faster, but the video is more than 25 minutes long, so we suggest letting it load for a bit before viewing.

  • Vimeo can be unbearably slow if you're not on a good VPN or whatever. Can we have this on a fast and reliable local host like Tudou?
