The latest exhibition at the Art Labor gallery on Yongjia Lu is a satirical take on last summer's Beijing Olympics.
The images are made up of hundreds of individual photographs taken at popular tourist sites around Beijing, digitally composed into a "Decisive moment" which never actually occurred. The end-result is something just a little too perfect to be reality, but where the joins are impossible to find so the viewer has no choice but to go along with the illusion.
Parallels with the air-brushed face that China presented to the world at Beijing 2008 are unmistakable, and uncomfortable hints at dark shadows controlling the scenes emerge the more you study the glossy images.
A timelapse movie on display at the gallery shows the painstaking work the artist went through to build the images. The exhibition is open until June 10.
