White is a traditional color of mourning in China, and a grassroots movement is encouraging people to wear white this Thursday, June 4.
Censors are cracking down hard on any non-harmonious behavior before the upcoming 20 year anniversary of… you know. All media outlets are heavily censored, access to places such as Tiananmen Square in Beijing is becoming more restricted, so various campaigns are spreading for ordinary people to express themselves in one of the few ways still open to them: fashion.
Obviously it’s hard to know how far this will spread until the actual day, but as we hear rumors that TV presenters are already banned from wearing all white (all black, or all red) outfits until well into the middle of June, some people up top are seemingly already worried.
