Cross-border route to Mongolia opens: Save us a seat!

mgroute.jpg
Exciting news for the adventuresome wayfarer - a new cross-border tourist route between China and Mongolia just opened today, meaning that as long as you have a valid border pass, you can now travel to different parts of Mongolia!

China Hospitality News reports that the new route "[runs] from Tarkshken border crossing in Qinghe County, Xinjiang to Bulgan, Mongolia," and eager travelers can participate in group bus tours with either Qinghe Kanas International Travel Service Ltd or Xinjang Overseas International Travel Service Company.

These are the only travel agencies that are able to offer tours to Bulgan, and you have to apply for a border pass through them at least one day prior to your travels. Seems to us like it's a great time to check out some new Mongolian digs. Perhaps our next Travelist will be to Mongolia?

Will this mean that you can go on to other parts of Mongolia or do you have to stay with the travel agency(tour) back to Xinjiang?? Also any idea's on prices?
