This week in Shanghaiist

China is such a garbage country.
Compared to?
The tank driver had such compassion, he actually tried to avoid the guy and even oppened the tank hatch to tell him to move out of the way. In Iraq, anyone standing in front of the tank will be blown away.
Yep, that's the whole point about that image. Good on you for getting it.
Replying to old comments doesn't work does it?
Yu Hua on 6/4 in the NYT: (5/30/09):

A Chinese version has been circulating on Tianya and other servers. I copied it to my blog, you can view it here: http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/dujuan99nihon/27652730.html
The Tank-Man rules! The civility of the Tank-Man and the civility of the tank-crew deserve praise.
I never undestand what the smart western media are driving at by repeatedly showing the tankman.
Obviously they wanted to say there was no massacre, right?
eastman,
those were the days when we both were lying in the shit: I in Tiananmen Square and you in your diapers.
Yes, it was a national disaster of epic proportions, not only in Beijing.
Big calamity, trust me.
Nonethelss, there was this symbolic scene and public display of civility.
“You lying in shit IN Tiananmen Square”? you must been frightened with a thousands slaughtered there, right?
When I walked along around city the whole night through, I witnessed the killings, anywhere except IN Tiananmen Square, contrary to your story spoonfed by West media and Hollywood. Seems you are no different from that tearful baby girl Chai Ling —-- “Row of row, hundreds and hundreds of students were mawed down by machineguns IN the Tiananmen Square”. How sensasional, exactly like Fox story on Romania Massacre with 20,000 slaughtered. Then it turned out, years later, only less than 100 dead including 40 soldiers.
I am simply smarter than you, since I know truth about China comes from Xinhua+CNN divides two.
....and kudos to our best friends, the censors, for not blocking the links and sites.
That happens for a reason and I am looking forward to more openness on this historic tragedy.
--"Banned Chinese novelist Ma Jian"?
Is he the one who humilated Tibetens in a book and almost got lynched in Beijing by Tibeten demonstrators in 1987?
Of course, by the selective memory of westerners, he is only recognized as anti-China freedom fighter. That's should be enough for them.

Yes I am hired by National Endowment and get paid handsome so what! one day our crusader will go liberate China as we did to Iraq!
Man you know tit for tat?
The PLA deserves half credit and half scorn. The Beijing garrison of the PLA refused to even show up, that is why outside brigades had to be brought in. And when they learned the truth, some wanted to turn around and leave. After all, there were active duty PLA from the Beijing and Tianjin garrisons in the crowd of demonstrators.
That tank commander probably got in some trouble with the commie pig fuckers for not running over Tank Man, who I don't think was a student, he was a worker on his way home from the supermarket and ended up in prison for his stunt.
However, there were some blood thirsty PLA field commanders who wanted to punish the demonstrators in the name of the Heavenly Mandate and Big Commie All Migh-tee.
And let's hear it for the brave middle aged and elderly hutong residents who firebombed the Hebei garrison when it tried to wind through the hutongs in tanks and troop carriers. Those people knew a bit about the CCP's and PLA's behaviors over the decades, knew about the protests and knew what was going to happen, so they attacked and actually drove the PLA back since it couldn't maneuver to fight in such tight spaces.
