Live Music This Weekend: IDH, The Face, and 0093 Showcase

We're not going to lie - this weekend pretty much belongs to hip hop. There's a couple of good rock gigs in the next few days and some great shows on the way later this month (the Miniless Showcase will be amazing and Joyside are in town for the first time in ages backed by The Rogue Transmission for example), but given the limited options this weekend, we'll keep it brief.

Tonight
IDH - an Inner Mongolian duo who name their influences as Joy Division and David Bowie - are up at Live Bar. They've suffered a bit due to Re-TROS's justified hogging of the dark, moody rock scene in China, but this weekend gives you two chances to see them as they'll also be at YYT on Sunday.

The aforementioned 0093 showcase brings Five Pence, Da Fresh, Bloody Mary, T.E.A.M., Counterspell, the "ignorant" 8MG, Blunt, and Teddy's Wish to the YYT stage with genres ranging from emo to punk via Britpop. Go check them out.

Saturday
The Face (no, not the dude from the A-Team) are down from the capital and they're bringing their "pop metal" along with them. Impact provide support.

Sunday
The aforementioned IDH play their second gig of the weekend, this time at Yuyintang. Support is courtesy of The Rank.

A group of Japanese bands based in Shanghai (including Misogiriders and Alone Wing) will take over Live Bar and bring their Korean friends Half Year with them too.
