Jet Li is a Singaporean now?

Jet Li: going soft in his old age First the Singaporeans seduced China's prettiest lady, Gong Li, and now it looks like the city-state might have its claws on China's current kung fu king! According to the AFP, Jet Li has taken up Singaporean citizenship and brought a property worth nearly 20 million Singapore dollars. Of course, nobody's confirming it right now... are our hearts really going to be broken again? WHAT'S SO GOOD ABOUT SINGAPORE ANYWAY?

No chewing gum, no spitting.

No chewing gum, no spitting.

Nothing is good about Singapore and least of all the people who derive from there. Oh scratch that. The airport is nice, especially when leaving.

Let me hazard a guess. It wouldn't have anything to do with Singapore's strict offshore banking rules that permit one to park their money in a Singapore bank, with strict civil and criminal penalties preventing Sing banks from making dislosure of their depositor's identities.

Surely, a mainland citizen would never consider keeping his money offshore and away from the prying eyes of the PRC tax authorities. Thats never been done before.

Good food, clean streets, low crime, vibrant nightlife... what more could you want?

For the visa of course! who wants to have a chinese passport if you have to apply visa everywhere you wanna go. Singapore is free access everywhere if you want to go international. Convinience!

The guy had US citizenship before taking a Singapore one and HK tends to have more liberal travel regimes.

Of course for the passport! who wants to have a chinese passport if you have to apply visa everywhere you wanna go and especially if you are an actor, you need a Global access easily without waiting until your visa is approved.

Great food, low crime. ... mmm.. black pepper crabs...

What is so good about singapore ? The answer is damn' obvious : low tax, global flight connection & visa-free passport are the killer apps for singapore

@Realclearchine : Singapore has a "vibrant nightlife" ? You mean compare to Hunan and only between 19h and 20h I hope...

Everyone can afford not to be Chinese is tossing their hukou and getting a foreign passport.

China is a junkyard.

Guess China is stuck with Ziyi Zhang. My condolences.

Maybe he just really likes the Chicken Rice from Tian Tian in the Maxwell Road Hawker Center.

Singapore sucks.

No reason. I'm just a singaporean hater. Never been there. I'm sure it's nice. It still sucks. I simply dislike people from there ... because ...I'm a singaporean hater. Singaporean? Stupid bitches from Sngapore. Yeah you. You are stupid stupid stupid bitch.

What can I say, I'm a hater.

You are right Singapore sucks. They welcome too many rich and successful people to seek citizenship there. Even legendary investor Jim Rogers rather put his children and wife in Singapore while he travels to China to work. Looks like clean air/water, clean govt and good infrastructures have some attractions for filthy rich people. We should invade Singapore and take over the govt and all the illgotten money in their banks???? Any taker??

I have never being there but have considered move there as well. However I have heard people there (locals) are some what obnoxious toward other Chinese or Asians because they think they are better then the rest. But I thought they are Chinese as well....did I miss anything?
