Photos: Nosaj Thing's debut album release show

Last Friday at Yuyintang, Nosaj Thing shone in his beat-heavy live set laced with synth sounds and slaps amid an obvious underlying hip hop influence. He worked the Akai Mpd-32 controller, laptop and audio interface and yes the crowd lapped it up.

We are a little unsure of Yuyintang as choice of venue for electronic music sets since the stage setup is really more suitable for live band performances. Lack of space and poor ventilation only meant it was near impossible to dance (or do any sort of electro head-bobbing) as everyone got hot and sweaty (in an unglamorous fashion). Couldn't hang out at the bar either as that was part of the traffic-heavy corridor between entrance and main room. No wonder everyone escaped out to the garden in the back the moment the show ended.

What, no eyes closed shot?

next time ! yinwei the place was packed like sardines. I count myself lucky to squeeze through to the front with a bulky messenger bag, lol. photos are kinda sucky on the whole, I only like the one with lo-fi hands.

the place gets packed but at least there is a garden, and its a release from the shelter which is a great place but you can get quickly sick of having everything happening there all the time. Keep on the great events but we need a new bunker!
