The internet can sometimes be a very dangerous place, especially for teenage girls. Yesterday evening, a 16-year-old school girl named Fang was stabbed to death in Nanjing by a man she met online.
She had previously skipped school a few days before in order to visit her "lover," Yu, in Shenzhen but had been brought back to Nanjing by her parents and teachers. But according to a video posted on Sina News, nobody knew she was still in contact with Yu.
The stabbing happened at 5:30pm at a cake shop near her school, after Fang went to break up with her internet lover. She was accompanied by her school friend who witnessed the murder and knelt beside Fang crying and pleading for Yu to stop.
According to Shanghai Daily:
The girlfriend who accompanied Fang on her fatal date with Yu said Yu had waited for Fang at the school gate on Saturday and then followed her home.
When police and onlookers began to crowd into the shop, Yu pulled the girl into a small room in the back. He kept Fang on top of his body with a knife held to her throat. He positioned himself in a way which prevented snipers from being able to shoot at him without harming the girl. After 20 minutes he brought his head up and was instantly shot. Police immediately rushed both Yu and Fang to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the stab wounds caused too much blood loss and Fang died in the hospital.
