Reason to tag your Shanghai photos with "Shanghaiist"

Because you never know who might be watching what we put up on the site. Longtime photo contributor Jakob Montrasio had his amazing images of Pudong skyscrapers featured in a New York City exhibition at the Skyscraper Museum this month. How did they find out about him? Through us! We featured his pics in a post titled “Photos that actually make Pudong look cool” in April 2007.

From Montrasio's email to us:

The post featured three high definition range photos and these photos were found by Carol Willis from 'The Skyscraper Museum' from New York, which was in the process of preparing a Shanghai exhibition. They contacted Jakob Montrasio, who shot these photos, and asked him if they could use some of his photographs for their exhibition.

Fast forward 2 years and some months. On June 24 2009, The Skyscraper Museum in New York City opened China Prophecy: Shanghai, a multi-media exhibition that examines Shanghai's evolving identity as a skyscraper metropolis.

Besides photographs of the Jin Mao, Tomorrow Square, the SWFC, and other Lujiazui landmarks, it also features a 20-minute video odyssey Montrasio filmed of traveling the city's streets and highways. If you're in New York, check out his work at the Skyscraper Museum before the exhibit closes in March 2010.

I also have several of my Shanghai photos featured at this exhibition at the Skyscraper Museum in NYC. I'm not sure whether they found my photography via Shanghaiist (I have had 4-5 photos featured on this blog over the years) or by the usual Flickr search engine though.

Check out the website of the exhibition at: http://www.skyscraper.org/WHAT%27S_UP/CURRENT/exhibits.htm

The top banner photo is taken by me as well as the photo of a highway a bit further down on the page.

By the way, you can see the Shanghai images that are in the exhibition here online in good quality and even order prints.
