The Globe and Mail’s Mark MacKinnon describes getting kicked out of Kashgar… well, kind of kicked out of Kashgar.
The Global Post reports that Uyghur workers in Guangdong, the area which first sparked the racial tensions that led to rioting in Xinjiang, are being held behind locked gates and guarded doors.
The official death toll in the region has been raised to 184 (injured persons: over 1000). Of the dead, 137 are reported to be Han Chinese and 46 are reported to be Uyghur. But these numbers are being questioned by everyone – Han and Uyghur.
