A couple of months back we headed down to Zhujiajiao for the day and had a blast at the Antidote Festival. Walking down the narrow lanes of the water town we kept expecting the street to widen into a field or something that we would recognize as a festival location. It didn't.
The festival was held in the garden of one of the larger houses in the town and it was a fantastic setting. Perhaps being a little ignorant of what's not in Shanghai city proper, we didn't realize that this was actually a regular live music venue until we started looking at the posters of the previous acts they'd had, stuck up on the back wall.
Anyway, on Saturday, July 25th there'll be another good reason to head down to this great venue as B6, Ben Houge and Torturing Nurse headline a day of electronica, experimental music and sound art called Zhicago. The shao kao guys will be there again grilling all sorts of weird and wonderful delicacies for you to snack on and, of course, the bar will be open providing plenty of refreshments. Oh, and did we mention that entrance was free? Sounds like a pretty cool day trip to us.
Here's the full line-up: Xu Cheng (one half of Torturing Nurse), Walnut Room, Li Jianhong, Jeremy Moyer, Dai Cheng, Nine Inch Nail (yes, singular), Torturing Nurse, l'OS, Ben Houge and B6.
In other Ben Houge news, the great man has a brilliant exhibition coming up called 29 Giraffes that we strongly advise you not to miss. It'll open on July 23rd at [the studio], but we'll bring you more on that next week.
Zhicago, July 25th, 4pm. Zhujiajiao, 24 Xihu Jie, 朱家角西湖街24号
