Pencil This In: Lingerie, Miró, and treasure hunting in the night

MIro invitation.jpg This week, realize your inner poet with the Monday Evening Writers, learn about traditional Indian instruments, and catch an exhibit of Spanish surrealism before drinking away your weekend on cheap Long Island Iced Teas.

Monday

If you have a love for writing, bust out your notepad and join the Monday Evening Writers at Mia to discuss ideas, read material, talk about projects, and socialize with fellow writers. Everyone from amateurs to professionals are welcome.

Miró, like Salvador Dali, was deeply affected by the Franco dictatorship during the Spanish Civil War. Friday

For those who want to explore Shanghai on a Friday night, the folks at Yana are putting on an evening treasure hunt around the city to "experience the old within the new." Teams of 4-6 will be given clues and a fixed amount of money to discover spots that (hopefully) haven't seen the light of a tourist book. The teams will reconvene at the end of the night to see who has accomplished the most

7:30-10:30 PM. 199 RMB per person. Contact info@withyana.com to RSVP

Huh? "Reactionary surrealism" makes Miró sound like a right-winger or even fascist, someone who would be a supporter of Franco. He was quite the opposite, from what I know. I don't think you mean "reactionary."

But it sounds like a great exhibit. Thanks for noting.
