Pencil This In: Trivia Night Special
Shanghai has a pretty varied bar scene, and with that blessing comes the perk of multiple trivia nights throughout the week. This week's Pencil This In is dedicated to helping you locate the city's quizzes, with a couple extra events tossed in for those not interested in building up an arsenal of useless knowledge.
Monday
The Bulldog couples their Manic Monday Quiz with a buy-one-get-one special on their main courses. We're a fan of the mini-chugging contests held between rounds. Winning team wins a 1000 RMB drink voucher.

Tuesday
Newcomers Southern Belle are staking their claim to the Shanghai quiz scene by taking Tuesday hostage and upping the ante with drink specials and bonus prizes. They also offer prizes to the top three teams, with first place enjoying a bottle of Jim Beam.

Wednesday
China Cycle Tours leads a free night bicycle tour through Shanghai every Wednesday night, starting in the French Concession and cycling through the city before hopping over the Huangpu River into Pudong. If you don't have a bike, it's only 50 RMB to rent a cycle and helmet.

Thursday
ShanghaiLGBT holds their trivia night the first Thursday of every month at Frangipani. We haven't joined in before, but we hear there's cheap drinks on hand, an awesome crowd, and of course, prizes to be won.

Bulldog invites you to drop more knowledge at Rack Your Brains, their second quiz night of the week. Hosted by a different quizmaster and complete with a two-for-one deal on all sandwiches, it's a good way to chill with friends on the cusp of the weekend.

Note: O'Malley's Irish Pub also holds a weekly quiz night on Thursdays, but they are currently taking a break and will resume league action on September 3.
