So the trailer for "建国大业" (The Great Cause of China's Foundation), the movie that will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party People's Republic of China is out. As you can see, anyone who is anyone in Chinese cinema is in it, perhaps a testament to how important political favor is in China's equivalent of Hollywood.
Youku Buzz says that Chinese netizens dubbed it "the biggest paean pic all time". They also said the movie's director, Han Sanping, told reporters that nobody cared what the international market thinks of the film and even stated that foreigners probably wouldn't like it in the same way that Chinese people don't care about American Civil War epics.
The release date is September 17.

I think it actually looks like it could be pretty good.
Are you kidding? The trailer doesn't even suggest a real plot. It just promises a movie with a whole lot of committee meetings and famous actors playing historical figures.
Please point me in the direction of a historical drama trailer that outlines plot details in under one minute.
i'm guessing that the plot will be about the founding of the PRC. and why it was a great cause.
Of course the founding of the PRC was a great cause since it meant the end of EXPATs rule, lol!
Yeah, and now 60 years later, you guys seem to be heading straight back to pre-revolutionary conditions.
We live in interesting times.
