Wu, a delegate of the National People's Congress in 1998, ordered three women to kidnap the girls, aged from 12 to 16, and take them to his office or hotels, where he raped them. He was reportedly worried about his declining wealth and took a rumor seriously that sexual intercourse with virgin girls would bring him good health and fortune, which prompted him to find 100 virgins."
- Taiwan typhoon death toll could top 500 [Xinhua] "The death toll from Typhoon Morakot in Taiwan could reach more than 500. Latest reports say about 380 people are feared dead in a southern Taiwan village in the wake of the typhoon. The 380 people are from Kaohsiung's Hsiaolin village which was buried in mudslides on Aug. 9."
- Principal stops school demolition by dousing herself in petrol [Shanghai Daily] "A VICE principal of a primary school for migrant workers' children in Minhang District poured gasoline over herself during a protest yesterday morning against the government demolishing a dilapidated school building. Dozens of teaching staff and parents rushed to the school in Tang'an Village of Wujing Town around 7am to stop the workers from demolishing the school, concerned the 650 students will be deprived of an education, the xinmin.cn reported today. During the standoff, vice principal Hao Shimei climbed onto a roof and poured gasoline on herself, holding off more than 100 people involved in the dismantling effort, including workers, police and government officials."



The article also doesn't discuss the need to have serious savings to stick it out until you find a job and that the pay will most likely be very "local" so you need to have cash somewhere else to have any sort of life.
Most of the examples pointed out are ivy league rich kids who are living off of the trust fund.
