This week, escape the Shanghai rainstorms by exploring Norwegian electro funk, learning about traditional Chinese medicine, or trying to score some free booze by playing pool and beer pong. Just don't forget to stop by the Shanghaiist Happy Hour on Tuesday, when we pay our tribute to the late John Hughes.
Monday: Ultimate Frisbee, Pool Tournament
Looking for a new sport to play, or just love throwing plastic around? Join the growing league of dedicated Ultimate fans at their weekly pick-up game at Jing An Worker's Stadium. Tuesday: Shanghaiist Happy Hour
We're not sure what John Hughes meant to the rest of the world, but for American teens, he encapsulated every struggle and every triumph we ever had or wished to have. So we've decided to dedicate our next Happy Hour to the man himself.
Besides the regular 2-for-1 drink deal, we'll play a selection of the music he featured and screen a selection of his movies for the night. If you have a John Hughes movie you'd like to see (and you've got the DVD), send an email along to info (at) shanghaiist (dot) com.

Wednesday: Norwegian Electro Folk
Yuyintang presents a night of Norwegian electro folk with Unni Løvlid, Hild Sofie and Ingar Hunskaar. Okay, we actually have no idea what Norwegian electro folk is supposed to sound like, but judging from the Myspaces, it seems kind of cool.

Thursday: Beer Pong, Rock is a Girl
Gather your buddies and relive your college glory days at I Love Shanghai's weekly beer pong tournament. Buy-in is a ¥50 pitcher of Carlsberg and winners stay on for free; the team with the most wins at the end of the night earn two bottles of Smirnoff.

Friday: Chinese Medicine Lecture, Jazz Evolution
Community Center Shanghai and Shanghai Shuguang Hospital have teamed up to form a series of lectures on traditional Chinese medicine, from theory and history to concepts and tastings. In their first lecture, they'll discuss the concept of "zhi wei bing", or prevention, and its function in T.C.M.

As the summer starts to wind down, head to twocities gallery as they kick off the fourth season of twocities in tune. Pianist Steve Sweeting will be tracing the “History of Jazz Piano,” from ragtime and blues to bop, funk, fusion and more. Singer and pianist Joey Lu will also be at his side for some four-handed improvisation. And hey, you might even learn something about piano and jazz.
