Magical Haibao, the cartoon

Haibao, everybody's favorite blue thingamajiggy that somehow represents the Expo, has gained a back story and guess what? He's ~*magic*~!

According to the Expo 2010 site:

Haibao, the mascot of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, now has a gender, a definite character and even a best friend.

Haibao is a baby creature from the sea who has magical powers to become a robot and his best pal is a five-year-old girl.

The Shanghai Expo organizer yesterday released a five-minute preview of a 52-episiode cartoon about the mascot.

This gave him a personality and story for the first time since he was announced as the Expo mascot in December, 2007.

The show will be about alien villains attacking Earth. Thankfully, Haibao and his five-year-old friend, Bei Bei, come to the rescue. Is it just us, or does that kind of sound like a Doraemon plot?
