The most FABULOUS teacher of them all

Just in time for Chinese Teacher's Day (did you know it was today?) comes this video of the "spiciest" teacher in China: Zhou Sichen. The video was taken in March and shows Zhou, an English professor at Hunan Agricultural University, displaying his mad dance moves to his students.

Zhou, born in the 1980s, was originally from a rural county in Hunan. He graduated from Hunan University and is currently in charge of the exams department of Changsha New Oriental English School. He's known for being a good teacher, humorous but strict, and has a high satisfaction rating and high pass rate. He's always been good at the arts - besides dancing, he plays violin and can sing "bel canto."

According to Sina, the students - all grateful that he had helped them pass their Level 4 English exams - had asked him to dance for them. They gave him flowers, prepared the tape deck and then sat back to watch the magic happen.

Boy, does the magic happen. Watch through to the end for it to get extra spicy!

I think I have seen him at our Halloween parties.

BrĂ¼no called, he wants his moves back.

I believe I should teach him an English word - shame.

In most countries, a leaked video like that would spell university expulsion and parental outrage.

uM, I disagree. What countries are those? I would guess this doesn't fit with the whole government running everything thing here.

I don't know, I wish my English teachers were this sassy. It'd make for a lot of hilarious, if a little uncomfortable, moments at least.

What exactly is there to be outraged about? Everyone's having fun, and the guy's one of the most academically successful on the roster.
Teaching is hard, but being a student is even harder, you need fun-loving, engaging teachers like this to keep kids focused and interested. The cold, dispassionate, inhuman teacher of old is so out...

Yeah, it doesn't say he's working at a university. He works for New Oriental, which, last I checked, is a private English-language training center. At any rate, teachers ask students all the time to step outside their comfort zones, especially when it comes to speaking a foreign language, so if a teacher can do that him/herself, I think that would only increase the bond he has with his students.
