More on the China-created Twitter "Fail Whale"

Twitter's "Fail Whale" comes from China

One year on and suddenly, Lu Yiying, the Shanghai-born, Australia-based creator of Twitter's fail whale, is suddenly getting a sudden media reemergence. Besides an audio interview with the BBC, she was also featured in a more in-depth piece by digital design site vectortuts+.

Since making the Fail Whale (which became so popular it now has its own fan club), she's also created the Foul Owl (the icon that appears on Twitter's suspended accounts) and other projects - many, but not all, relating to animals and technology.

You can follow her on http://twitter.com/yiyinglu.

Oh yes, and you can follow us on http://twitter.com/shanghaiist... you know, for whenever Twitter gets un-GFWed or you decide to spring for a VPN.
