News on the USA pavilion has been somewhat scarce - at least on this site - since it quit being a joke and turned into something real. But now, as we count down the last 250 days to the Expo, it's somehow made its way back on our radar.
According to Shanghai Daily, as of last week the USA Expo group has raised about two-thirds of the $61 million it needs to build and run a pavilion and that the steel part of construction will be finished in October. That means that they've gotten about $10 million in the last two months.
We guess this new store they opened over the weekend is one of their ways to come up with that last $20 million or so. The store sells "dozens of items which can be shipped any place around the world."
"With the USA Pavilion store, people can show their support for the USA Pavilion by wearing a polo shirt or a ball cap," said the Pavilion's president, Nick Winslow. Or getting $30 "Rocks glasses." Or these nifty $50 beer glasses. Or even a $125 Crystal Decanter. How dreamy! Just remember, every sip you take in these glasses is a drink for America!

I think it's sad that the amount of money spent on 1 random U.S. airstrike in Afghanistan is more than enough money needed for the EXPO Pavillion, yet they have to sell overpriced swag in order to raise funds.
What? It's not a joke anymore?
Are these f**king glasses even made in the USA???
Shouldn't they really be selling to Chinese? And if so, why don't they have a Chinese language option?
