How Shanghai Wild Animal Park plans on celebrating the 60th Anniversary

shanghai_wildanimalpark.jpg Feel like walking on the wild side for the upcoming October holidays? Then check out the new Shanghai Wild Animal Park exhibit that just opened yesterday. Called "The Carnival of Animals," the new exhibit has over 1000 types of nine rare species, all there to help celebrate the 60th Anniversary. If you go between now and October 30th, you'll be able to see:

  • Timber Wolves (whose Chinese name hilariously translates into Big Bad Wolf of the North)
  • South American anteaters
  • Red Ibis from the Netherlands
  • California Sea Lions by way of Germany
  • Various pheasants and songbirds from Beijing and Chongqing
  • Raccoons from North America (right, we didn't realize they were rare either)
  • Guangshou's White Lions
  • Malaysian Sun Bears

Besides just watching creatures from behind glass walls, you'll also get the chance to watch a sea lion show, see dog and cheetah racing (though not at the same time, we presume), and feed lions and tigers! Oh my! We wonder if we'll be feeding them live meat like in Shanghai Wild Animal Parks events of yonder.

Shanghai Wild Animal Park (上海野生动物园) is located at 178 Nanliugong Lu in the Nanhui District (南汇区南六公路178号)
