Bullying is a part of adolescent school life: it's sad and disheartening when you're singled out for being different in an unfamiliar place. But, then again, it's probably worse when the bullying is facilitated by a teacher. Sina has a bizarre story on the hazing of an eight year old student, started by his teacher and ultimately ending with him being likened to a monkey's red ass.
Yan Hui, a precocious student in the the Panyu area, was used to being teased and bullied by his classmates for skipping two years ahead in school. The kids in his class would tease him for his shyness, which would cause poor Yan to blush and hide his head under his desk. But when little Yan came into class one day with a cold, he never knew what his runny nose would lead to.
After the teacher noticed his running nose, the teacher forced the class to write an essay on why Yan Hui is so shy, and then made the class have a discussion of his red face using comparisons. We imagine it went down kind of like a "yo mamma" insult competition. Apparently, the teacher didn't think this was a bad idea: she even thought the comment "Yan Hui is like a cute turtle who hides his head in his shell" was particularly good. We all kow that kids say the darnedest things, but teachers do too now?
