Pencil This In: Pink Party, Electro shows, and Moon cakes for charity

If we're going to call a winner on this week, it's not the 60th anniversary on Thursday. It's Yuyintang, banging out three solid nights in a row of electro, punk, and more electro. The kind that looks legit and actually fun, too, not the crappy need-to-be-drunk-to-enjoy-this electro.

But if you want to be slightly more productive, there's also a documentary playing on Singapore's history, a Russian performance of Swan Lake, and an opportunity for you to donate your leftover moon cakes to the homeless.

Monday: Invisible City

In the 2007 documentary Invisible City, famed director Tan Pinpin delves into the hidden history of Singapore, pre-1965. Through interviews with a variety of people who are themselves trying to discover the island's past, from photographers and archaeologists to activists and journalists, the film makes a commentary on the fragile ties between memory, artifacts, and a nation's history.

Tuesday: Mooncake Collection

Blessed with more mooncakes than you could handle this mid-Autumn Festival? Take your stockpile and drop them off at the Dulwich Senior School. Their charity committee will take the cakes to Home Sweet Home, who will in turn distribute them to the homeless people of Shanghai. You get rid of your extras guilt-free, and in turn help feed the homeless. Win-win.

Wednesday: Pink Party, Jeans Team

Barbie Shanghai isn't just for the spoiled girly-girls and under-20s, you know. The flagship store is hopping on the anniversary-celebration bandwagon with a Pink Party, complete with a four-hour open bar. So strap on your heels and put on something shockingly pink, because that's exactly what the CCPC would have wanted.
