Sometimes it seems as though there is nothing the government can't do. As we know, Beijing is going out of its way to ensure National Day celebrations run as smoothly as possible. With everything planned so meticulously and all those security measures put in place, we would hate for it to rain on our National Day parade.
Since Mother Nature tends to be a bit unpredictable, the Air Force is taking power into their own hands to ensure Thursday is a beautiful day for all the parade goers, much like they did during the Olympic opening ceremony. According to Xinhua, they have prepared 18 converted transport planes, and 48 fog clearing vehicles with over 260 soldiers to keep the clouds and rains away and sun shining.
Even if there is the slightest chance of rain, the measures will be put in place. And since it is forecast to rain tomorrow night, it seems pretty likely. But doesn't it rain for a reason...?
It's pretty incredible the Air Force can declare war against weather and it raises questions about how safe this is for the environment. According to Cui Lianqing, the deputy director of meteorological department in the China Air Force, the cloud-reducing catalysts planes sprinkle into the sky are environmentally friendly. But... well, you know how the record goes.
