We're always fascinated by old pictures of China--we love seeing the tangible change in photographs from eras past. And since we can never get enough, here are a few more pictures from a wonderful photoset taken nearly thirty years ago.
All the photographs included in this collection were taken by Steve Montgomery in the Spring of 1980 during the Friendship Study Tour organized by the US-China People’s Friendship Association and Ball State University. Besides the wonderful pictures of Shanghai, there are some beautiful sets of Beijing, the Great wall, Nanjing and Zhenjiang.
We're amazed at the lush beauty of the city thirty years ago- usually, old pictures tend to display their ancient qualities. Kudos, Mr. Montgomery- these photos look as vibrant as the day you took them. Enjoy pictures of cute children, happy people, and a landscape that has change built into its very core.
Thanks to Steve and Iker. More photos at MAS studio @ flickr
