Oh Yu Zhenhuan (于震环), say it ain't so! China's hairiest man is allegedly going to go through plastic surgery to remove most of his hair after a stinging audition for a role as the Monkey King didn't work out in his favor, says Plastic Surgery Channel.
32-year-old Yu had recently auditioned for the lead part of Sun Wukong in a Chinese television classic Journey to the West, thinking that he'd totally bag the part since he had all the hair needed and he'd played a monkey boy in a movie back when he was seven. Apparently, as with real monkeys, he's gotten less cute with age. The director shot him down, telling him he wasn't attractive enough.
Now not only will he be undergoing several procedures to remove the hair from his body, he'll also be getting an extra nip tuck to change the size of his eyes, nose and lips. According to Ananova, he had this to say about the whole thing:
"I thought I was the best candidate, as I look like a monkey and my nickname is Monkey Man," said Yu."I read through the book and found professional hair dressers to make me into a real monkey man. But I failed the audition because I am not good looking enough.
"I am going to have surgery to get rid of the hair and facial plastic surgery to make myself look more like a pretty monkey, and let the director regret his decision."
We understand that at 32, Yu's probably a little sick of the novelty his furriness brings and not being able to get the "perfect" role despite his follicular situation must have been a pretty big blow. But we wonder what this would mean for the rest of his career - will his rock band still be interesting now that it can't be categorized under hair metal?
