Kathleen's 5 is hosting a fundraiser in support of Home Sweet Home, a social charity helping above-age orphans and the disabled in Shanghai. Wednesday: When China Rules the World
Author and academic Martin Jacques will be at Glamour Bar to discuss his controversial book, When China Rules the World. Jacques basically states that China doesn't need modernity to dominate the world; it's a 'civilization state' with a superiority complex that will eventually swallow the West with its Confucian ways. Thursday: International Magic Festival, International Puppet Festival, Zuloo Smack
As part of the ongoing International Arts Fest, Thursday acts as opening night for both the International Magic Festival and the first-ever Shanghai International Puppet Festival. Over the next five days, 14 international magicians will be performing in shows, seminars, and competitions, while 42 puppet shows battle it out for various awards like Best Visual Art and Best Director. Magic and puppets! You can't ask for a better Thursday!

Shanghai is known for a lot of things...improv comedy isn't one of them. Fortunately, Zuloo SMACK is coming to the rescue with a five-person-strong professional improv troupe. Friday: 39 Steps, La Traviata
If you're a Hitchcock fan and understand fluent Mandarin, the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center is presenting a stage adaption of 39 Steps. Four young actors set the stage in the classic thriller about an innocent man on the run.

For opera fans, the Seoul Metropolitan Opera Company is performing their take on Verdi's famous Italian opera, La Traviata ("The Fallen Woman"). The company toured Italy last year and received rave reviews and sold-out performances.
