Dating doesn't come cheap, even for local Shanghai students

Well gee, we guess this city is prohibitively expensive. Shanghai college students looking for romance can't catch a break - not from snooping Anti-PDA patrols and definitely not from their meager moneybags. According to Enovate, most college students get some allowance from their parents every month, but it's a pittance if you actually want to get romantic...

They detailed the dating costs of two students:

Scofield Tan is a 22 year-old guy studying at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Here is a list of his monthly dating costs (in RMB):

Food 200
Transportation 100
Party 350
Shopping 200
Hotel 200 [ed note: ooh lah lah!]
Total costs: 1050RMB

Sunnie is a 21 year old female studying at Shanghai Ocean University. Let’s take a look at her list:

Food 150
Transportation 60
Buy snacks 50 [ed note: We're not sure how buying snacks ties into dating, but okay.]
Party 150
Cellphone bill 30
Shopping 400
Total costs: 840RMB

While these amounts may seem exiguous, it's worth noting that both students still receive a higher allowance than their Tier 2 city counterparts. Well kids, there's not much we can tell you except that there's probably a good life lesson here - even when you're heart's overflowing, it's good to remember your wallet's not.
