It's going to be a sunny December weekend - all the better to be out and about! Definitely check out some of our live music suggestions at night, but just in case you’re feeling geeky/artsy/cultural during the day, we’ve outlined some of this weekend's coolest/quirkiest-sounding art exhibitions, fashion launches and community events that will keep you buzzing around town until Sunday evening.

Oh, the dedication a photographer must have in pursuit of a thoughtful, quirky, much-talked-about photo series. Andre Eichman’s initially light-hearted project to travel around China with a small kitsch statue of Mao Zedong turned into an on-off six year journey spent photographing and interviewing people about Mao. His photographs of those he met along the way (with the statues of Mao appearing somewhere in each shot) are collected in his exhibition “The Chairman and I”. See how a man with his statue managed to visually document Mao’s lasting impact on modern Chinese lives.
