Malone's insane burger deal: 50RMB for burger + pint
When Blue Frog moved away from its Tongren Lu location, we shed a single tear for the Jing'an district's best burger bargain. Little did we know that three months later, an even better deal would pop up... at Malone's of all places.
Right now, Monday nights means that any of the 30 some burgers off the Malone's menu plus a Tiger pint is 50RMB. Considering pints normally go for around 40 there, and the burgers can be priced up to the 100s, we're finding it hard to find an excuse not to go there on Mondays.
In fact, it was the thing that actually brought us back to Malone's for food for the first time in years. While we'd never had problems with the food there, the price point always gave us pause when there was Munchie's decent (if smaller) options closer by and cheaper.
This time around, we opted for the Mushroom Swiss burger and the Texas Chili - which, when we ordered it medium rare, came out so bloody it fell apart in our mouths. Both were thoroughly filling, half the size of a person's head and with a fluffy sesame bun and the choice between a salad, potato wedges of fries as a side. Speaking of choices, apparently the beer can be exchanged for a soda drink as well.
Unfortunately, good things like this never last for long. According to Malone's brass, the deal will only go from now until the end of March. We'll be seeing if we can somehow manage to try all thirty burgers in that time.
