Monday: Willow Neilson Quartet
Australian saxophonist and composer Willow Neilson arrived in Shanghai in 2007 on a music residency and has since worked closely with JZ Club, as well as various ethnic minorities in Yunnan, Xinjiang, and other provinces in China. Listen to his internationally-influenced jazz when he and his quartet hit up JZ Club on their Lightbulb Lives Tour.

Tuesday: Scrabble Night, Big Lebowski Night
Shanghai’s favorite Happy Hour cum Scrabble Night is back, replete with good company and good spirits, and of course, a two-for-one drink special. With every drink, you get five scrabble tiles; make words on our board, and the person with the most points at the end of the night wins a ¥250 drink voucher to Cotton’s!

This week, SubCulture Cinema’s film screening is cult classic The Big Lebowski, and to celebrate they’re holding a trivia contest, Lebowski-related activities before the film, and specials on White Russians all night long. Wednesday: Arm Wrestling Tournament
It’s a night of semi-athletic activity as Big Bamboo hosts a casual double-elimination arm wrestling tournament. Brackets are divided into Men’s below 80 kg, Men’s above 80 kg, and Women. Big Bamboo will provide a scale, the regulation-dimension arm-wrestling table, and a brief pre-competition tutorial on safety and technique. Grab a pint, roll up your sleeve, and enjoy the friendly competition.

Thursday: Teenage Kicks
Let your inner awkward child out at Teenage Kicks, your classic middle school dance-gone-wrong. DJs Wongton, Sacco and Oh Snaps will provide the music everyone hates to love, from 90s hip hop to hipster douche (think Phoenix and MGMT). The night comes complete with “punch.”

Friday: Texas Hold ’em
Poker is still is an up-and-coming trend here, but now there’s a place for you to don your sunglasses and baseball hat a la Phil Hellmuth. A no limits Texas Hold ’em poker tournament is being organized at the Everbright Hotel, with enough spots for 16 people to participate. Rebuys are allowed, and beers are only ¥10.
