It’s a foregone conclusion that Shanghai’s rivers and creeks will not be dyed green in honor of this mostly-Western holiday. To their credit, they’re pretty close without the dye. In any case, you probably still wanna get trashed tonight, so pick out a pinch-proof outfit and read on for the city’s best bets.
Why: It’s THE Irish bar in town! Besides a live Irish band, you’ll also get the following drink deals: 2 carbombs for 50RMB, 2 Jagerbombs for 60RMB, two for one baileys for 60RMB and uh… green beer, of course.
Where: O’Malley’s Irish Pub, 42 Taojiang Lu near Hengshan Lu
Why: Somebody named DJ Stephen’s gonna be spinning Irish house music, plus pints of Guinness and Kilkenny are 50 rmb. If you’re nostalgic for the simpler days of college, there’ll be beer pong, plus Tiger, Gin and tonic, vodka and whiskey are free flow from nine to midnight: 60 rmb for females and 80 for the men among us. Why: They’re bringing back last year’s unbeatable 50 rmb Guinness and Kilkenny’s, plus double shots of Bailey’s and Irish whiskey for the same price. Plus Irish music and Irish food. Plus plus plus, the celebration actually runs until March 21. No cover.

For the Ladies
Why: Free “green” cocktails for ladies ’til midnight and 25 rmb green beer for dudes all night. House music from DJ Trix. No cover.

Why: Monday night special on Wednesday: free margaritas for ladies until midnight! Also, green beer. Hey, if China can celebrate St. Paddy’s, so can Mexico. No cover.

Punk Rock St. Patrick’s Day
Why: As can be expected when the name “Windows” is mentioned the drinks will be cheap, only this time, some of them will be green. Plus, they promise Irish music. Better yet? It’s Irish punk music, courtesy of the Murder City Devils! No cover.

St. Paddy’s Soul Night
Why: St. Patrick’s Day, 60’s style: soul music and “The Commitments.” Plus, all-night Guinness specials. No cover.
Where: Dada, 115 Xing Fu Lu, between Fauhuazhen Lu and Pingwu Lu.
I Love Shanghai
Why: In addition to requisite green beer (25 rmb, draft) and green clothing, it appears ILS is going all-out and having green “costumes.” To find out just what that means, you’ll have to turn up, but when you do, 20 rmb Budweiser and Tiger bottles await you. Free green shots with each drink purchased. No cover.
Where: I Love Shanghai, 2-3/F, 1788 Xinzha Lu near Jiaozhou Lu.
Why: There’ll be deals on Guinness (25RMB!) and Jamesons (40RMB) and cocktails. Happy hour is still from 7 to 10pm, plus you get a special gift when you order three Jamesons.

Why: 99RMB will get you a Shamrock shot and access to all the House spirits and draught beer you can drink from 9PM til midnight.
