If peanut oil is made out of peanuts, then is Baby Oil...

While a certain bodily fluid might be the first thing that comes to mind, this mascot actually represents oil. Called You baobao (油宝宝)，or "Baby Oil," this unfortunate combination of shape and color was unveiled last week to mark the 40-day countdown to the Expo.

Basically a yellow version of Haibao, but with more fingers, Baby Oil will be teaming up with the likes of Taiwan's Yabi, Australian's Peng Peng, Singapore's Durian Star and Spain's Miguelin. While there has been a huge influx of new Expo mascots recently, Oil Baby stands apart from his cuddly cohorts in that he is the first mascot representing a corporate pavilion - the Oil Pavilion to be exact - to have arrived on the Shanghai scene.

With less than two months to go before Expo kicks off, we're still waiting eagerly to see what other corporate mascots will be arriving in Shanghai to promote China's developing economy. Possible guesses include Zappy the Frayed Wire (for the State Grid Pavilion) or Tuggy the Arms Exporting Container Ship (Shipping Pavilion).
