You might even get lucky and be assigned to one of Shanghai’s new Expo-themed minivan cabs, complete with gold rims. The city plans to hire more than 4,000 new cab drivers in advance of next month’s opening, focusing its recruitment efforts on Shanghai’s rural surroundings in the Yangtze River delta.
How much does a cab driver here make anyway? It’s apparently around RMB4000, which won’t sound like much unless you know a Chinese person who’s recently graduated from university. Shanghai Daily reports that recruitment is limited to “residents.”
We’re not sure if that includes people who are residents by way of, you know, residence permits. So if you’re still out of work from Kai-en’s collapse, it might be worth checking out.
