Meet the Shanzhai China pavilion

This newly built structure found in Jiangsu Province's Funing County (阜宁县) , has recently come to be known on the Chinese interwebs as the "Shanzhai China pavilion". Residents of the impoverished county interviewed by Xinhua have criticised the government for spending RMB3.5 million on what they saw as a "face project" and for allocating a whopping 8,000 square metres to the square on which the 'pavilion' was erected. Unlike the China pavilion though, the structure measures only 49m by 49m -- too small for exhibitions for any sort, and good only as a "vase", as one local villager puts it.
